Welcome to the homepage of Kennel Ophian

You are visitor no. ***to our "new" homepage (since 28/1-2000)

Changes last made December 31st 2003 (Events, Kiva, frontpage).

We have got new puppies once again (October 28th 2003) - New pictures from Dec. 31st 2003

We are an active kennel with a predilection for agility and obedience.

On these pages we will attempt to give you an idea of our ideas, ambition and motive power.

Kennel Ophian was founded in 1986 and today it consists of 3 shetland sheepdogs (also called shelties) and 1 smooth collie and a border collie. We are only breeding on the shelties. The sheltie is an agile, beautiful and intelligent dog which gives a zest to life.

We live in Nødebo, a little north of the Danish town Hillerød (40 km North of Copenhagen). The humans in the kennel are Annette Dalgaard (former known as Annette Jørgensen), Jens Klink Dalgaard (the reason why Annette changed her name) and our shildren: Rune & Naija Klink Dalgaard.

Rune & Naija will not stand back for the dogs - and therefore they have a homepage of their own. Runes homepage (text only available in Danish - sorry)

Our dogs are very fund of each other and enjoy each others company. The elder dogs are for example not allowed to "grow old" - the younger dogs will see to that and keep them going. Our eldest sheltie, Bon Jovi, is the living proof of that.

We are very proud of our accomplishments - a small kennel ("living room breeding") - which has lead to 24 working champion titles - and 6 show champion titles (per 21/4-2001):

all with Annette as a primary handler - this must be an unofficial Danish record!

Above is Annette with (from the left) Aiki, Devin, Bon Jovi, Kiva and in the front Celine. Our new hopes, Geena, Zico and Gucci, is on the separate pictures

You can get a thorough description of each of the dogs and their merits by clicking on the dog or its merits - as they have a homepage of their own. Gucci will get a homepage later.

Wednessday October 31st 2001 we had to take the hard decision and put Aiki down. She had pain, and we didn't mean we were able to give her a dignifying life with more medicine or new tests. Read more on Aiki's homepage.

Friday August 16th 2002 we had to go with Bon Jovi, too - Aiki's big little brother, the "police dog" of the family.
He has for a year been into a rehabilitating program after a damage he got in our garden, where he, Kiva and Devin ran into each other and dislocated 4 lumbar vertebrae and his hip. His agility career was started again after treatment from a chiropractor and rehabilitation and he qualified for Danish Championships in agility 2002 as a medium dog. But when he tried to rectify a young, big collie male his hip dislocated again and he also suddenly had a rupture. We would not let him go through an operation and yet another rehabilitation, and Annette was afraid of bringing him along when going to obedience training, if he would tire himself too much or get more damages. But to let Bon Jovi stay home while taking the other dogs for obedience training would be "animal cruelty" - so we decided to put him to sleep. Read more on his homepage.

Once again we had to say goodbye to one of the old dogs. Kiva was put to sleep on December 12th 2003 - her body were old and worn out, and she was in a lot of pain. Devin and Zico was with her to the vet, and I think they said farewell, because there have been no problems at home afterwards.

We would also be very greatful for any comment you would have to us and/or our homepage.

Please write Annette (Webmaster) - good ideas for alterations are also welcome.
